Biography
Martyn Henderson, or Mash as he’s known, has been djing, producing, broadcasting and writing in the dance scene for nearly 20 years.
Producing his own tracks on labels such as Southern Fried, Glasgow Underground, Dirt Crew, and Blue Black as well as Mash’s own Tracktion and CompactDisco Dot Net labels. His brand new single ‘Style is the answer’ is out now on a limited Glasgow Underground vinyl 12″, with remixes from Mia Dora, Dominic Martin and A Deeper Groove, it is also be available now to download. This has been getting plays by Francois Kervorkian, Groove Armada, Seth Troxler, Hernan Cattaneo, Graeme Park and more. It has also been played on BBC Radio 1 by Rob da Bank and Andi Durrant and Mash himself on Capital FM. His single ‘Somebody’s Property’ (which went to number one in the Belgian Dance charts in 2006) was recently re-released on Glasgow Underground with new mixes from Sei A, Ooft!, Kevin McKay & Rob Etherson. This had plays from Groove Armada, Digitalism, Spiller, Freeform Five, The Revenge and Mark E to name but a few. Mash just released ‘Horn of Africa’ on Southern Fried Records and remixed The 2 Bears new single, ‘Work.’ Which is out now through Beatport. He is currently in the studio recording his debut album for Glasgow Underground, which will feature collaborations with The Revenge, Mia Dora and Rob Etherson.
After broadcasting on Beat 106, Radio Scotland, XFM, Galaxy and more recently Capital, Mash has been asked to do a 6 Mix for BBC 6 Music on Friday October 19th 10pm to Midnight.
Broadcasting for 15 years on radio, Mash has featured some of dance music’ biggest stars, such as Underworld, Moby, Depeche Mode, Andrew Weatherall, Death in Vegas, Mylo, Groove Armada, Jamie Jones, Beardyman, Josh Wink, Tiga, and Disclosure.
To date he’s been totting up the airmiles and held residencies at Bugged Out, The Sub Club and Turnmills and along with regularly DJing all over alongside dance music’s biggest producers. Mash’s DJ sets have also rocked crowds at festivals such as Rock Ness, Homelands, T in the Park and Love Box Weekender.
After writing for magazines like Clash, Tilllate, The List, Mash has been appointed by Mixmag as the ‘House Editor.’
